I have always had a love for everything related to dogs and during high school I began to look into a career with them. Of course veterinarian was an obvious choice as that's what most animal lovers dream of doing but after working in a vet clinic I knew it wasn't right for me. I wanted to work with how dogs think and I wanted to help educate people from the start, right when they bring home their brand new puppy.
I started my dog training journey at PetSmart in 2005 and went through their program. For ten years I taught puppy-advanced group classes along with trick dog classes and private lessons. I also held seminars on behavior issues and tested dogs for the AKC Canine Good Citizen and Puppy S.T.A.R. In 2011 I also went through their Grooming school and learned how to do all breed trims along with companion dog haircuts, bathing and nail trims. Eventually I found Starmark Academy (previously Triple Crown) - School for Dog Trainers where I received education in everything from how dogs learn to training basic and advanced obedience, search and rescue, agility, service dogs and more. I earned my Canine Training and Behavior Specialist Certification through their program in June 2008. |
